Skin care tips for men

Taking care of skin for men no longer carries the embarrassing stigma of metrosexuality. It’s just normal and natural to know the skin’s needs and give it a proper care.

Here are some common beauty tips for men’s skin:

Cleansing is the most important thing to do for the skin. It should be the basis of skin care regimen, but that doesn’t mean reaching for a simple soap. Men’s skin typically has large pores and very active sebaceous glands. While these glands are critical for keeping the skin naturally moist, they can often produce too much sebum. Neglecting to wash away the excess oil and dirt can clog pores, which leaves the skin prone to breakouts. It’s necessary to use a cleansing gel every morning.

Exfoliation should make an appearance in the skin routine (just two to three times a week). It helps dislodge debris that normal washing can’t touch. A good scrub should have granules to help smooth the skin and eliminate the dullness that results from normal pore clogging and dirt build-up. Exfoliation also softens hair follicles for a closer, less-irritating shave and allows the skin to better absorb moisturizers.

Moisturizing. Showering and shaving open up pores and allow precious water to escape, but a light moisturizer can fix everything. It replenishes the skin’s moisture content and prevents razor burn.

A moisturizer with SPF will also provide a critical shield against the sun

The skin around the eyes is the only area that actually deserves special attention, because men don’t age the same way that women do. Instead of a slow progression of fine lines and wrinkles, men’s aging occurs in quantum leaps, and one of the first visible signs of aging comes from the skin around the eyes. The soft, thin layer of skin that surrounds the eye is especially prone to developing creases and crinkles long before other parts of the body begin to show their age. All of this can be prevented with regular use of an eye cream. It smoothes and protects the fragile skin.

Eyes are the mirror of the soul

Our eyes are certainly an important part of our individuality and an important means of expression. Unfortunately, the first place that we notice the fine lines and wrinkles that come along with getting older is the delicate skin around the eyes. This is because this skin is much more thinner than that on the rest of our face and therefore more susceptible to damage caused by the breakdown of collagen and elastin (aggravated by exposure to UV rays and pollutants), as well as from the expressions that we make. When we laugh, smile, cry, worry, etc. the lines that appear around our eyes are eventually etched into the delicate skin leaving behind the ever dreaded crows feet.  By taking special care of the fragile skin we can reduce the appearance of bags, discoloration and wrinkles keeping our eyes bright and expressive.

Staying out of the sun, staying hydrated and enjoying a healthy diet rich in fruits and vegetables promotes healthy skin all over our bodies, however, there are a few ingredients that can be added to our daily skin care regimen that can ward off wrinkles, discoloration and puffiness that tend to show up around the eye area. Because the delicate skin around the eyes contains few oil glands, it can easily become dry, making fine lines and wrinkles much more prominent. By moisturizing often, we can plump up the skin around the eyes so that fine lines and wrinkles are less pronounced.

One of the most effective means of keeping the eye area looking youthful and line free is through the use of peptides short strings of amino acids which mimic processes in our bodies thus giving cues to our body’s natural system of repair to increase collagen production,
lymphatic drainage and micro-circulation.Skin care products containing peptides tend to be more expensive than some of their less advanced counterparts, but they yield results that are not possible through the application of moisturizers alone.

Applying antioxidants to ward off free radical damage is another essential part of a healthy skin care routine, as antioxidants both heal and protect delicate skin. Vitamin C is another important antioxidant when carring for the fragile skin around the eyes as it strengthens skin cells and prevents pigment discoloration while fighting free radicals.

One of the most important ways to keep ourselves looking young and healthy is by taking good care of our bodies and paying special attention to the area around our eyes when performing our daily skin care routine.

HOW TO SPEND WEALTH ON CREAMS

Every woman wants to stop the ‘age clock’ as aging gives ugly fine lines, under eye puffiness and dark circles. Unfortunately, it can only be delayed but not stopped completely. We can’t really spin back the time, but many of the best anti wrinkle creams can reduce the facade of wrinkles, lines and dark circles in just a few weeks and they are ‘clinically proven’. Some skin cosmetics are costly enough to be locked in a safe as very often we come across many anti-aging creams that cost a fortune.

No cosmetic company guarantees a complete revamp of the look but they claim to reduce the aging spots and other problems in the skin. Well, there are alternate treatments for skin like Botox and other surgeries but it is any day better to utilize your money on something that is less risky. From $10,000 skin cream to a volumizing serum that costs $600 per ounce, the beauty creams are not cheaper than Botox but are less risky. The question is what makes this product so astronomically pricey? Well, time-intensive study, and striking wrapping, the expensive and rare ingredients such as exotic antioxidants extracted from rare plants, crushed pearls, gold, caviar and other things are some of the main contributors to the whopping prices of face cream. Well, let’s have a look at some of the most expensive beauty creams:
1. Price: $10,000

Do Retinol Products Really Get Rid of Wrinkles?

Retinol is a proven vitamin A ingredient to help stimulate cell regeneration and build collagen to get firmer, younger-looking skin every day. It transforms the look of the skin by reversing the visual effects from sun damage, soften lines and wrinkles, fade brown spots and and smooth the texture of the skin.

For many years, Retin-A (Vitamin A) was a topical cream used exclusively to treat acne. Since it had a lot of harsh side effects, such as dryness, redness and peeling of the skin, a doctor would need to give very specific instructions to their acne patients about how much to use to try to lessen these negative effects. Dr. Thomas Fitzpatrick the Chief of Dermatology at Mass General Hospital always demonstrate to his patients with acne how much topical Retin-A was needed on one of his own hands. He would take a pea size amount (his recommended amount for the entire face) and rub it on his hand. Day in and day out, he would continually demonstrate the cream on his hand and one day, to his surprise, noticed that he had one hand that looked much younger than the other!

This realization led Dr. Fitzpatrick to be of the doctors instrumental in getting the FDA to recognize Retin-A as a cream to help reduce wrinkles In 1991, the FDA approved Retin-A as an anti-wrinkle treatment. Soon, Retin-A was all the rage and women were lining up at their dermatologists’ offices to get a tube of this miracle cream. However, the use of Retin-A didn’t go so well at first. There wasn’t as much awareness of how to use it properly to lessen the drying side effects so women were slathering it on. They soon discovered the downside of trying to achieve younger-looking skin—peeling, flaking, dryness, redness and overall irritation set in quickly.

In the early 2000s, cosmetic companies started introducing non-prescription Retinol products that were marketed as a way to get the results from the prescription versions, but without the side effects. Women decided to wait until new technology presented more effective options.

Some years ago, it was finally created the Retinol serum with new formula. Clients were very satisfied – pores appear smaller, brown spots have lessened, and lines and wrinkles are truly softened. Retinol is that, when used long term along with exfoliating products to enhance the absorption of this active ingredient.

Microdermabrasion review

Microdermabrasion is one of the more recent skin-care techniques. It's being advanced as an "instant facelift" – an effective alternative to costlier and more invasive procedures like plastic surgery, chemical peels and Botox injections.

Microdermabrasion, also known as microderm and it is one of the easiest and most effective anti-aging treatments. Its benefits are many: microderm softens fine lines and wrinkles, helps to smooth coarsely textured skin, decreases the appearance of scarring, decreases pore size, and reduces superficial hyper-pigmentation, also known as age spots.

Microdermabrasion is a general term for the application of tiny rough grains to buff away the surface layer of skin. Skin is made up of two main layers, the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis is the layer closest to the outside world. It's a set of dead skin cells on top of another layer of cells that are in the process of maturing. The topmost layer is called the stratum corneum. The stratum corneum mostly acts as a barrier between the outside world and the lower skin layers. It keeps all but the smallest molecules from getting through. When you put lotions or creams on your skin, some of the moisture passes through the stratum corneum, but not all of it. This layer is home to many minor skin imperfections like blemishes and wrinkle lines.

Microdermabrasion is essentially powerful mechanical exfoliation with an expensive machine, generally either the original crystal microdermabrasion technology or the newer diamond-tip microdermabrasion. It is a cosmetic technique that uses a mechanical medium for exfoliation to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells from the epidemis.

Microdermabrasion has evolved from stones and shells to crystals, particle-free diamond tips. Once the desired amount of exfoliation has been reached, some microdermabrasion units will then infuse a skin specific solution into the skin.
Microdermabrasion also makes it easier for high-tech skin care products to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and help build collagen, which gives skin its youthful appearance.

The crystal microdermabrasion device consists of a compressor that draws in air through a hand-held wand. When the wand touches the skin, a vacuum is created. Aluminum oxide crystals, also known as corundum (the second-hardest mineral next to diamonds) blast across the skin’s surface, picking up dead surface skin cells along the way. The crystals and dead skin cells are quickly sucked up through a different tube in the same wand and go to a disposal bag.
The depth of exfoliation is controlled by the strength of the vacuum and crystal flow, which is determined by esthetician.

Cautions on Microdermabrasion:

Do not get microdermabrasion if you have extremely sensitive skin, diabetes, vascular conditions like rosacea, skin inflammation, bacterial infections.

Apply sunscreen and stay out of the sun after your treatment. Along with the dead skin cells, you have removed some of your protection
